Chord duration in scaler 3

Is there a way to “globally” set the duration of chords in scaler 3? In scaler 2 you could do this in settings
(settings → playback → chord duration → beats), but in scaler 3 you have to grab each chord individually and adjust its duration by dragging it. This is good for setting each one differently but I want to set all of them to say, 4, 8 or 16 beats which makes the chord progression sequence much longer. unless there is some global way, this is incredibly time-consuming and not straightforward (am I missing something)

I’ve been wondering the same thing, and also whether or not you can set it to .25 or .5 bars like you previously could as well. The arrange page is great in theory but I feel like I had a lot more freedom with the way things were done before. 3 very much seems to want to hold your hand and do every little thing for you. I just really doesn’t seem friendly to workflows that involve anything other than using Scaler 3 for every single track, or at least that’s been my experience so far.

The Scaler 3 manual says that:

By default, chord duration is set to 4 beats

and:

To adjust these settings:
Change default chord duration in Settings > Playback.
• Update the time signature in your DAW with DAW Sync enabled or, in standalone mode, by dragging the time signature values up or down.

I haven’t been able to test it yet, but it seems that there should be an option in Settings > Playback to change the default chord duration, just as in Scaler 2. Maybe it refers to the “Chord Preview Duration” in said menu (?)
Could you check it, please?

Just to be clear here. In order to allow for time signature accomodations we forced all chords dragged to section C to be one bar. We did have a function where Chord Duration altered that but it was causing issues for our users using different time signatures. We need to find a better solution I agree. BTW you can multi select and adjust all chord lengths at one time and this is done according to your Division setting (top right). The right click on a chord and remove empty space

HOW? I havent been able to successfully do this at all .. can you elaborate on how this is done…

If not, maybe and or inadition too.. can the divisions be added to a Tab in the Right Click menu when Chords are highlighted … maybe.?

Go to the top right and change the divisions in the drop down to whatever you want. Multi Select all the chords and go to the right of one of the chord as if you are expanding / shrinking it. Shrink all chords, right click on one of the chords and select remove empty space.

okay so.. If im starting with a Chordset … that has 4 chords, at 1 bar each … I cant Multi Select all the chords and expand the end of the last chord to the right (To make Each Chord 2 bars or More simultaneously) … I First have to separate each chord .. giving it the empty space to expand to the length desired .. and Then i can Multi Select and Expand collectively..

it is that step of Separation Im hoping to negate .. especially in instances where there’s more than 4 chords. Right Click → Time Division seems much more efficient.

In the same vein, and this is a suggestion rather than a complaint, it would be nice if there was a way to alter two adjacent chord durations in one action. Quite often you want to move a chord change forwards or backwards by a beat or so to make the sequence more interesting. At present you have to drag one chord edge to make it smaller then drag the other chord to make it larger. It would be nice for both chord lengths to change on the same drag motion, either by using a modifier key or just as the default action. It’s probably the most common thing what you want to do when dragging the boundary between adjacent chords. If you want a space or want to insert another chord you can use the snip tool. (I feel to have just used a lot of words to describe a simple thing!)

yes! with a modifier i.e Alt one should be able to modify a pair of adjacent chords.
and in addition it would be better to be able to “play” the sequence and record it to main track, much more easy than redimentioning chord blocks and much closer to a musician´s work.

Yes that is one I would like in 3.1. Hopefully within weeks.
