3rd party instruments

Im trying to use Serum 2 as an instrument in Scaler 3, in Ableton 12, but there are multiple instances of Serum 1 and not Serum 2? Does anyone know what’s going on, why is Serum listed many times and there’s no Serum 2? For information Serum 2 shows inside Ableton no problem

Do you have Scaler 3.2.2? Can you ‘Rescan Plugins’ within settings? Failing that try deleting your plugins.cache in your Scaler 3 folder and Rescan Plugins.

It’s 3.2.2, I’ve deleted the cache and rescanned, but no change, any ideas?

Thanks

No I’m afraid. Reinstall Serum/2 and rescan S3? This is how mine looks:

So I installed deleted and reinstalled S3, Serum 2 shows up now, but there are now multiple plugin entries for each supplier?

@davide

I repeated the scanning several times but Scaler 3 still dislike UJAM Virtual Pianist (not the basses)
maybe because it prefers its embedded piano?

Joking aside I’ll try deleting the plugins.cache and I’ll let you know

No way

I’ve noticed it takes Scaler over an hour to scan my VST’s it used to take about ten minutes?

I think it happens when an issue jumps out

For example, it sees my UJAM Virtual Pianist, then the scanning freezes for several minutes, and ultimately it skips the plugin

Now that is odd and not reproducible on our end in any way. I have over 1000 plugins and I get them scanned in about 5 minutes. I am not sure what to say but it does sound machine specific. I hate being told to reinstall the OS and each plugin but I am sure that would fix it for you. Do you have another system to double check on?

Hi Davide

I’ve reinstalled the OS, no change I’m afraid, any more suggestions?

Thanks

Ian

Hey @lynnfield72 I have no idea really. Deleting the plugins cache and doing a fresh install of Scaler is the only thing I can recommend save for understanding how you have your plugins/components/system files setup. Something is duplicated somewhere is my guess…

You were right, turned out that out of 600 plugins two were duplicated, as soon as I sorted that Scaler scanned in under 5 minutes.!

Thanks for getting back to me.
