Will Scaler2 be updated?

Will Scaler 2 be permanently stuck at 2.91?
I’m asking because I often prefer to use Scaler 2. It’s faster, more convenient, and more familiar to me.

Hi @swingmix Appreciate the sentiment and thank you for sharing that.

Scaler 2.9.1 is now officially end of life, so there won’t be further updates beyond that version. We’ll continue to monitor feedback and focus our efforts on improving Scaler 3. I’m increasingly confident that, in the near future, Scaler 3 will not only cover everything Scaler 2 offered in terms of features and functions, but also match - and surpass - it in terms of speed, ease of use, and overall accessibility.

Thank you for your work on this excellent music software.

I want to share my honest experience. My computer is very fast, with an Intel 265K CPU and 64GB of RAM. When I use Scaler 2.9, it’s consistently fast.
When I use Scaler 3.0, I notice some lag.
For this reason, I prefer using Scaler 2.9.

I found this too during e-piano lessons:
2.9 wrapped in Tone2 Nano Host as a standalone - no perceived latency
3.1 Standalone - poor latency even when lowering audio card buffer

Seeing no reason to use 3.1 at the moment.

Windows 11. i7-11700K 3.6 GHz 64 Gb RAM

Hi @Bobrv8 that doesn’t sound right. What is your audio device? And which audio driver are you using? If using ASIO driver for both applications with the same buffer size, latency should be the same.

Thank you Tristan for the response and guiding me to the fault in set up. Scaler 2.9 wrapped in Tone2 NanoHost had set ASIO as the default driver but Scaler 3.1 Standalone had defaulted to Windows so followed your advice and all good. Thanks again.
