Here are a few issues I’ve consistently noticed while using Scaler 3:
Scale Change After Reopening Window:
If I close the Scaler 3 window and reopen it later, the selected scale changes automatically. When that happens, every track outside of the main track changes its tone or notes entirely. This scale change happens without fail, every single time—making the workflow unpredictable and frustrating.
Chord Set Lock-In:
Once you select a chord set (e.g., Blues), there’s no way to delete or clear it from the top bar unless you replace it with a different set. If I simply want to delete it, I can’t—unless I create a brand new instance of Scaler 3. This adds unnecessary steps to an otherwise smooth process.
Track Type Lock-In:
If I add a track—say a bass track—but meant to add a melody or articulation instead, I can’t switch the track type. I have to delete the track entirely and start over. It would be helpful to have the ability to switch track roles on the fly.
Arranger Window Chord Bugs (After 32+ Bars):
When working deeper into a song (32+ bars), adjusting chords in the arranger window becomes glitchy. Enlarging a chord causes it to shoot 5+ bars to the right. If I try to shorten a chord to under a bar in length, it jumps to the smallest snap setting—even when I don’t want it that small.
This happens in VST2 & VST3.
These issues really slow down the creative flow, especially during long sessions. Hoping these can be addressed in a future update!
I think this has to do with the Scroll functionality trying to extend too quickly. I can replicate this now. If I use a precise mouse I am ok but trackpad it zooms away. Let us address this.
Hi @raybeastproductions, thanks for the detailed post, and apologies for the delay in getting back to this.
Points 1 and 4 have been resolved in updates since the time of your post.
Point 2 has been logged as a feature request, which we’ll consider implementing, especially if there’s demand from other users.
For point 3, the ability to change a track’s motion type is something we’re planning to address in a future update.
If you’ve updated to Scaler 3.2 and are still seeing issues with points 1 or 4, please let us know - we’d be happy to take another look. Thanks again for helping us improve things.
On point 3, I have struggled with this too. The motion type needs to be event/clip based. It would be nice if the motion type we select from the add track menu was just a default. I added a Bass Follow track and didn’t realize I couldn’t change the type. I thought I was missing something, but the feature was missing. I’m completely new to Scaler, so it took me a while to figure out I had added the wrong track motion type. If they’re gonna go to town on it, it would be nice to have access to motion type via a right click context menu. That would save us having to go all the way to the left and scroll up in the midi editor section. Glad to see you guys actively working on improvements. I’m enjoying working in Scaler 3.2. Thank you and keep up the good work.
