Scaler 3 Octave changes

MIDI and Scaler 3 newbie here. I have a 32 chord progression where I changed octaves on a couple handful of chords. All the issue chords are most of the gray color shaded chords and one is a blue color chord. Most of my octave changes are not saved when I save either internally within Scaler or as my Reaper DAW project. It’s a pain in the azz to correct them every time I open saved work especially with the thin slider bar under each section where it is available. Frustrating the hell out of me…very time consuming. Am I missing something?

I do have other issues with Scaler 3 but I’ll get to them later as this issue is at the top of my list right now.

Doesn’t sound right @Randy Lets start with two things off a checklist:

  • Do you have the latest version installed?
  • Did you restart your machine after install?

Appreciate the quick reply Davide.

My Scaler 3 install file is: Scaler-3.1.0.exe Reviewing my Scaler account just before this writing I noticed v3.1.2 is released? Can I DL the new version to use freely? I thought I had read, when I made my purchase, updates are NOT free. Please clarify.

And YES I have rebooted my PC a multitude of times during my chord progression creation. Being a total MIDI newbie at my age (73) and no music training except for high school band beginner classes (guitar & trombone) long ago it took many sessions to create my chord progression (almost a month). Mainly all done by ear.

I will add that after just going through a number of saved presets the unsaved chord octave changes are sporadic. As I have saved presets a number of times there were some octave changes I did purposely change on a number of occasions. I did note each desired octave change via a spreadsheet saved with each preset name & date at the end of every session. I’m quite nerdy about keeping track of my progress as I ALWAYS double check myself without fail before I save my presets. BTW, when I say ‘octave change’ it’s a change from the given octave (0) when I drag the chord into the main track from the ‘Create Page’..yes I know you know about that..duh..lol.

Sorry for being so wordy here…but more words make for a clearer picture?

All in all..Scaler 3 is a wonderfully splendid and superior product with features currently beyond the scope of my ability now, but I have already learned many musical nuances just from what I’ve done with it so far. I applaud you and your team.

Sincerely, Randy

p.s. how about doing a tutorial vid on using a vocal/chorus virtual instrument in Scaler? If you feel it would help. It’s something I’m looking to try next week to add to my orchestral ensemble type strings chord progression.

Of course all point updates are always free. Please login to your account at scalermusic.com and head over to ‘My Products’ where you will see the latest version.

Thanks for the clarification Davide. I went ahead and DL’d the update yesterday..I can be a rebel sometimes..lol

I know from the forum there’s a few items you’re addressing, especially the chord appearances in the Create page selection bars. That’s a big concern for me but I’m confident it will be resolved soon.

In any case, I am advancing at a quicker pace with my project now as I’m suddenly picking up on how to do this and that as far as manipulating my daw with midi tracks. In the last 2 days I’ve created 2 more project racks..took me over a month for track #1. A great feeling when substantial progress is at hand.Although It will likely take me until the end of the year to complete my project as I’ve not yet looked sufficiently into rendering/mastering. But when I get it all polished I think you might be a bit impressed..:crossed_fingers:

Have a great day
