Scaler 3.3 First Look - Multi-Bind Performance (early preview)

Hi all, we’ve been working on the Scaler 3.3 update and this is one of the (many) new features we’re building.

This is Multi-Bind - lets you link multiple tracks together and perform them (Chords and Motions) at once or selectively! The goal is to open up way more expressive control, especially for live performance.

Early preview here, but already feeling pretty powerful and lots of fun.

Feel free to feedback or let us know how you might use this. Lots more previews to come and on track for Q2 2026 release!

This will be a great feature, can’t wait to try it out. I also like little snippets like this so as my old brain isn’t bamboozled by to much information in one instance :joy:.

Interpreting what I’m seeing (and not sure if I’m correct), each chord block is a potential scene, the scene composed of multiple tracks “bound” to play together at once. Yes?

In any case, my comment here would be that granularity being limited to single chords is a significant limitation.

In a DAW, scenes are individually as long as the user want to define them. I suggest that would be a worthy goal here in Scaler.

IOW, granularity at the level of “chord progression” rather than “single chord”. (The former includes the latter, but not vice-versa!).

To implement, you’d probably need a timeline which could be divided up into named scenes, each of which could then be triggered from a controller (or the mouse). As one possible reference, Rapid Composer provides an example of this approach.

Hey @sj1 Thanks for feedback. We have ‘Scenes’ in Scaler 3.2
Are you suggesting we extend to include BIND Scenes? This has been suggested before. BIND and skip to Scenes.

I think it would be great to add the ability to use jumps and repeats for the scenes that would be expanded on export. Also the ability to export by scene. I would have made this a separate suggestion but it would really work well with the live track recording as well.

Organizationally, it might be better to have its own tab. Say you have a scene for an intro, verse, chorus, bridge, and ending, you could set up a flow of intro, verse and chorus X3, bridge, verse, chorus, ending. That would allow a higher level organization where you might include key changes, scale changes, and mode changes. Maybe instrument changes. Basically formed as an outline view of the complete piece.

You can rearrange the Scenes easy enough. You can drag all the Chords and Motions out from one Scene if you select them but I agree you should just be able to drag out the entire scene. A ‘tabbed’ view for Scenes is also interesting and that would make it very easy to organise.Although we have something in 3.3 that will make viewing them all (effectively like tabs!) coming in 3.3 anyways. Thanks for feedback.

Bind scenes, this is my dream.

Multi-bind is a feature I am really looking forward to. I get most fun and satisfaction playing live. Triggering chords, bass, arps etc. by yourself opens up new possibilities with velocity or even intentionally delaying a part to be off beat for a bar or so which adds tension. In other words it will be fun :+1::star_struck:

Looks Great, well done!!
Any chance to get the minor visual Chord input output change in this update please?

I went asleep after a few minutes
Sorry, this is not for me, but I am sure that many users will find it cool
Very smart feature anyway

It’s on the list for 3.3 but given the big ticket items eat our resources it’s not a guarantee. Should be there though!

Awesome feature, really useful because it can speed things up a lot!

I would like to add a feature request to this (if it’s not already behaving like this).
Would be awesome if this Multi-Bind performance also takes into account the chord inversion of each chord on muliple tracks.

Is this already the case?

Also, I really believe Scaler should internally record the input notes when recording (users own) performances.
And of course then transpose them to output in real-time and during playback.
Because now when we change a chord/chord structure, scaler will transpose-output users costum phrases correcty.
I already made a similar feature request in this thread:
Request - Add “Bind Key” function to the “Chord Follow” track or develop a…

But now with this feature, I can better word my feature request.
Also, I think there should be a visibility toggle to switch between MIDI input and output per track.
And maybe as an extra step, only makes the Midi-input view editable…unless the user want to unlink that specific recorded phrase/track from the Main-track.
Think this feature should solve the issue where Scaler would get confused in all the midi routings. for all the tracks in any DAW.
This would effectively turn scaler into a midi- (compositional) editor for my (any) DAW.

I’m basically looking for the possibility to record my own phrases that follow the main track, while being able to transpose any chord per track. I consider this to be scalers holy-grail!

But the question is @davide
Is this achievable, or are there many things to be solved before this could be implemented?

Thanks for the feedback and can’t answer all of your questions as this is all in development but sounds like we have most of your requests covered. Stay tuned please.

Well … That’s big. Clearly, this is a nice feature with a great potential. I really liked this. Another dimension compared to the current Scaler 3.2 and previous releases.

My inspiration is back. In my case, this is great for a prog rock song.

If the scenes could come in tabs, as mentioned, and navigation becomes easier, this would be a killer combination.

And my “obsession”, something I would call Scene Chord Notes or so: in the bind mode, in a potentially new key lock option, instead of seeing and using a sea of bound keys, I would like to just be focused to four or eight (or any number of chords) used in a current scene.

This would be a nice improvement. I think it was mentioned and this is something I’ve been thinking about since several months and could not clearly define it. Maybe Scene (Chord) Notes would be a good name.

I am very excited about this feature and have wanted it for some time. Once people try Multi-Bind Performance, it will become one of their favorite features as it makes sketching new songs so much fun and enjoyable. Wonderful work Scaler team.

You are AWESOME! Thank you

This looks really great feature. Great job Scaler Team! I can’t enough to wait that I can try this new feature :star_struck:
