Hi everyone.
Totally new to making music, and have been using Logic Pro 12.3 for 2 weeks, and Scaler 3.3 for 2 days. I watched all of the tutorial videos on the YouTube channel, and basically the entire Scaler 3 playlist - which was really helpful and thank you for all of that.
I am working off a 2023, 16" MacBook Pro, M3 Pro, running macOS Sequoia 15.7.7. I have an Akai MPK Mini MK3, as my midi controller.
My issue is I’m really not doing anything crazy compared to people with far greater skill and experience. I’m basically just in the first tab (browse), playing around with the all the master list of chords, selecting, and playing to hear how they sound. I’m playing around with the different built in instruments to see how they sound with the different chords, and I’m going through the different genres, artists, common progressions, etc. in Section A. As I’m playing around, pressing keys on my MPK, and listening, and changing instruments, and trying different chords, at some random point it just crashes out on me.
This has happened both as I was experimenting with Scaler 3.3 in standalone mode, and as a plugin when trying to make something very simple in Logic Pro. I really don’t understand why it is doing this, and it kind of makes me feel paranoid/gives me a panic attack. I don’t know if I need to export whatever I may have accomplished at any given moment - which isn’t very much as I’m so new to creating music
- for the sake of losing what little inspiration I may have instantiated into being.
I searched to see if others had posted for this, but the only forum posts I found were in regards to Scaler 2.x and Logic Pro 10.x versions.
My system is not being pushed to the limits with a ton of stuff running in the background taking up ram or causing processing overhead. I have Logic Pro open in my second larger monitor, and I have a browser window open with any given Scaler 3.3 YouTube video up, so I can watch/pause and follow along.
Any insight would be welcomed.
One thing I will note, is while installing for the first time after purchasing this 2 days ago, I received an error message during the plugin scan. I can’t remember exactly what it said, apart from that it quit unexpectedly, and I had the option to ignore, restart, and something else perhaps that I can’t recall. I remember clicking restart, and a console window opened up and spat out a lot of text, before the same popup saying it quit unexpectedly popped up again. I clicked restart and another console window opened up, spat out some text, and at that point, there was a popup saying it found 83 plugins, which I assume was just the stuff already in Logic Pro. Then the installer finished and I closed it out by clicking done I think it was.
Anyhow, just trying to learn how to make some simple music to help with my depression, as I do not have any hobbies apart from trying to make my first hobby. So thank you all in advance for any help you can offer, or maybe there are bugs that have already been identified that are being worked on before I even happened along here. If so, I look forward to the updates that will help with this.
Thanks again, and happy creating to you all.
