I love Scaler 3, it’s a very good tool for creating music but it’s really unstable. Here’s my problem, Scaler 3 is crashing my DAW (Studio One Pro 7.2.3) almost every time I open a project. But, once opened, it works fine.
While opening one of my projects in Studio One Pro 7, I can see each plugin opening in real time, and it often crash when Scaler 3 plugin is opening.
I bought Scaler 3 3 month ago and I have this the problem since the beginning.
My computer is a MacStudio 2025 (M4 Max - 64Go), macOS Sequoia 15.7.2.
I saw a lot of people on this forum saying the same thing on others DAWs, I think developpers should stop adding new functionalities for the moment and work hard on make it more stable.
When music creation is stopped by technicals issues, it is very frustrating.
That is just my opinion
You have created is a very good and very useful product but his instability must be resolve.
Sorry to hear about your frustrations. We do have extensive user base of Scaler 3 users across all DAWs and setups, and we listen to everyone. Scaler 3 is very stable - we don’t experience any crashes in our day to day use.
There are a small minority of people that have issues which is normal for any software, and we investigate and monitor every one of those issues.
There have been a small minority of Studio One users having issues with Scaler 3.2 that we have been unable to replicate, irrespective of what we’ve tried. These users have primarily been Windows users - that investigation is ongoing.
If you are having problems, I would first suggest a clean install (instructions below) and then:
Open a vanilla session of Studio One.
Load a Scaler 3 with no third-party VSTs.
Save and reopen that session.
Does it open fine? If by chance you are still having issues, we would love a crash report so we can investigate and see if we can pinpoint anything that may be causing an issue.
Thanks in advance for your patience.
Mac – Clean Install:
Delete the standalone state file: /Users/[USERNAME]/Library/Application Support/Scaler 3.settings
Delete the personalized files: /Users/[USERNAME]/Library/Scaler Music/Scaler 3
Delete the shared user files: /Users/Shared/Scaler Music/Scaler 3
Reinstall.
Tip: The Library folder is hidden by default. To access it, open Finder, click Go in the menu bar, and hold the Option (⌥) key to reveal Library.
Happy New Year 2026, I wish you and the team, success in all of your projets.
I come back to you because after several days, Scaler 3 is continuing crashing my Studio One’s sessions. It’s excatly the same bug before doing the clean install. Studio One crash when opening Scaler 3 plugin.
So can you tell me where to find the crash report ?
Hi @Philippe1977, sorry to hear this is happening after a clean install.
To locate crash reports on macOS via Console:
Open Console by pressing Cmd + Space, type “Console”, and hit Enter.
In the sidebar, go to Crash Reports.
Look for a file with the name of the app that crashed (for example, Studio One_2026-01-06-123456.crash).
You can either click the Share button to export the file, or just copy the text and paste it into a .txt file (or directly into your message if it’s short).
We’re looking into issues related to Studio One, and based on the logs we’ve received so far, it appears the crashes are likely caused by factors outside of Scaler 3. Many users report that Scaler 3 runs smoothly in Studio One.
That said, please do send through your crash report - we’ll review it and investigate any issues it might reveal. Cheers.
Hi @Philippe1977, thanks for the update. It looks like the .ips file wasn’t attached to your message. Could you please try and attach it again, or upload it to a file-sharing service such as Dropbox or Google Drive and share the link? You’re also welcome to DM me here on the forum with the file or link. Cheers.
Hi Philip. I also installed S3. 2 and like you I had the same errors as you in SO1. I think that there were fewer errors when I had S3. 2 hanging especially on a track, then the problem went away.
But it’s not 100%. It’s better to do it in standalone and then transfer the midi to the DAW. But it’s still time-consuming and for today’s time such a procedure is not satisfactory.
But I didn’t notice the problem in Cubase 14.
If you make any progress, let me know.
Hello Petr
Hi @Philippe1977 Thanks for providing a crash report. Our devs have looked into this and I have sent you a DM with a beta to test. Please let us know here if it resolves your issue.
I have installed the beta installer directly on the already installed version of Scaler 3 and I have made some tests like opening and closing sessions, it’s seems to work very fine, I had no crashes during my tests. I only had one crash because I opened a project with Scaler 3 Detector in it. So you will have to patch the same way Scaler 3 Detector.
Good Jobs guys, I think you’ve found the problem
I will continue to test it and I will come back to you if I notice anything wrong.
