S3 for iPad usability features

Hi!

I’ve been having fun giving the ipad version a shot and I’m really enjoying it for sketching ideas. I’m paticularly suprised with how well it integrates with my AUv3 plugins.

However I find it really janky in some areas.

I feel like we’re really missing a few important things to really have Scaler 3 be a strong choice for an every day music sketching app on iPad.

  1. A “select all” tool when manipulating midi

  2. A “move” tool to change from edit mode because I keep adding notes instead of moving them, by mistake.

  3. A way to zoom in and out (and navigate) the midi editor without using the scroll bars by using two fingers.

  4. A way to copy, paste and delete individual midi clips

  5. The ability to turn a midi clip into a loop so we can lay down just one or two notes and loop that.

  6. A way to save our own note patterns.

I think these would really improve our ability to make decent drop/main section ideas directly in the app, which we could then take to our main DAWs. Please consider these… tons of potential for this plugin, I think! Thanks!

HI @Leo Welcome to the forum and thanks for the feedback - always appreciated.

Yes we have many of your suggestions on our roadmap. It’s aways easier to do this stuff on the desktop. For example two finger zoom in a multi window setup on iPad has been a real challenge. We are looking to help the process by making the tools more flexible in an up and coming update in Scaler 3.3 - this will included editable Motions! For point 4 you can copy, paste and delete individual midi clips. Have you discovered the right click and copy drag functions? See the onboard tutorial or this video here:

Hi Davide!!
That really helps and absolutely addresses a few of my recommendations. :+1:t2:

In that case this leaves:

  • A Select All tool/option
  • A “move” tool for midi
  • Zoom/Navitage gestures
  • Ability to loop clips
  • Saving note patterns

Hope these find their way into scaler 3
