Please bring back the ability to scroll through Motions with arrow keys as a chord progression is played and have those motions be immediately applied instead of waiting until start of each progression, which may quite a long time. I get that it sounds cleaner to quantize these changes, but it absolutely kills the workflow when trying to quickly find patterns that work. Please bring this functionality back *** Also, the feature could be improved when using left, right keys to go through Motions with the option to randomize the order.
Auditioning Motions on Browse Page (down the bottom) with the < and > works exactly the same as Scaler 2 for me. What am I missing?
Using computer keyboard left and right arrow?
aha! No we are passing that through to the DAW now. Maybe we will expose an automation parameter as a compromise.
In the case of Ableton Live that is not true, arrow key keystrokes do not pass through to the DAW when Scaler is up. Does it really make sense to pass keystrokes through to the DAW anyway? When you have Scaler pulled up you can’t see what is going on in the DAW.
It does pass through in Ableton. Go to Sessions view and use your < > to scroll through the arrangement, applies to most DAWs. Yes it makes sense. Stop, Play, Go back to Beginning are all pass throughs but not in standalone.
Sorry to push this, but… keystrokes left, right, up down, enter, and tab most definitely do not go through to Ableton and they also do nothing in Scaler 3. I’ve tested it several times. It seems all other keystrokes do go through.
When Scaler plug-in window is up and you have clicked on anything in the Scaler window those keystrokes no longer go through to Ableton. I would love for the listed keystrokes to be sent to, and manipulate settings in Scaler when the window is in focus, but I expect that won’t happen and you probably have reasons… But right now those keys are useless in my testing.
-Thanks for your time and your commitment to refine the product. I love Scaler
Scaler 3 v1.0.1
Ableton Live 12.1.1
(empty project, except Scaler)
Mac OS 15.3.2
They do. I meant Arrangement view in Ableton. You can see that < and> moved the timeline in Ableton when Scaler is in focus. Maybe we can allow midi mapping to left and right preview everywhere. Thanks for the feedback.
As you can see in the bottom left of the screen, whenever using the left and right arrows nothing is happening in Ableton when Scaler is in focus/selected.
Same here in multiple hosts (Cakewalk Sonar and Maschine). Arrow keys are not passed to Scaler, even in hosts that have specific setting to “give keystrokes to plugin” kind of thing. Other plugins are seeing the arrow or tab keys ok. I can’t seem to get most keystrokes working here. Up/down arrows work in a very small set of controls such as some but not all of the browser areas (arrow key works in current scale rows selection area, but not many others).
EDIT: I note if I load my own plugins inside Scaler 3, with Scaler 3 in a host, keyboard goes to those plugins just find (arrow keys and shortcuts) but not mousewheel! So seems there is some evidence keys are already being sent partially? Just not working in most of Scaler GUI.
