One click disable of MIDI output for whole Scaler plugin?

Hi There,

I’ve read the manual, and the forum but not finding how I can disable all MIDI out from Scaler 3 to the DAW. If I want to just use Scaler as an idea pad with internal sounds at times, I then have to go disable the MIDI outs per track in Scaler arranger view it seems, otherwise when my DAW has instrument tracks set to MIDI omni (as it does by default, with auto echo from any input to the selected track) I have to either change instruments to specific controller MIDI inputs only, or change track settings inside Scaler to not output MIDI to the same DAW channels that instruments are on. That feels like quite lot of extra steps vs a simple disable switch. For comparison, many drum assistants like Session Drummer do not output MIDI unless their pads are pressed in the interface.

Am I missing something? Is there a fast way to toggle disable all MIDI output from Scaler at once to the host with one click so I can continue to sketch inside Scaler but not have MIDI driven out to all my instruments, causing a lot of work separating channels? I suppose I could use external instruments and deliberate routing to Scaler, but I kind of like working within Scaler with loaded plugin sounds so far as it is much quicker than setting all that up and I prefer to do detailed edits in my DAW once I have some chords or motions I like dragged to track from Scaler.

If this is possible and I missed it, my apologies but please help. If not, please add this as a feature!

Interesting, we haven’t had this request before and don’t know a situation where MIDI out is echo’ing. It could be possible to disable MIDI output but honestly I haven’t heard of another instance where this would be necessary. Which DAW are you using?

Cakewalk Sonar 2024.12.

I assumed it is a convenience of many DAWs to have auto MIDI echo from hardware controllers only to the active track, avoiding the time consuming steps of always setting up channels for MIDI. This feature has been in Cakewalk for years since it was one of the few options for robust MIDI work. I would be surprised if the issue does not come up in other hosts, but maybe not?

I suppose Scaler is somewhat unique in that it is intended to send MIDI to other plugins, particularly in the past, but with version 3, it is sort of like Maschine, Komplete, or other sub hosts in that it can load other instruments. When used in this fashion without the need to route its MIDI to tracks outside of it, it would be nice to quickly mute its MIDI to any other tracks without alter the host or mute all the tracks inside the plugin. For a comparison of how one developer does this, when NI Maschine is loaded into a DAW, its interface has a “power” button that can be used to stop all audio and MIDI events out of it as needed.
