Importing Scaler Files into Logic Pro

I have Scaler on my iPad (currently version 3.2, but this problem also occurred in version 2) and can’t find a great way to get anything I create in it into Logic on my laptop. I can export XML files from Scaler, and my laptop seems to think Logic is the program to open them with. But Logic has never, not even once, been able to actually open them–it always tells me there’s an error with the file. Logic does recognize MIDI files from Scaler, but Logic’s new “chord detection” feature does a bad job of interpreting them, so I end up losing a lot of the information that the sequence had when in Scaler. And, for that matter, I can’t find a way to get the files from Scaler iPad into the Scaler plugin in Logic. Anyone have any insight into how to accomplish these things? Thanks!

Hi @Atom_Heart_Father An XML file is a file type that universally supports chord progressions. I think what you are trying to do is export the Scaler sessions (see below)? You can export the sessions and you can export the chord progressions as MIDI files which Logic will recognise (Export Main Track Chord Set). It’s worth checking out our Youtube tutorials, the manual and doing some searches here to try and help you get to know Scaler 3 better.

After saving or loading a user preset on Scaler 3 for iPad, you can export the preset by clicking the export button in the top right of Scaler 3’s interface, and selecting ‘Export User Preset’. Then you can manually import the preset file into Scaler 3’s preset folder on Windows or macOS.

  • macOS: Macintosh HD/[User Name]/Library/Scaler Music/Scaler 3/Presets
  • Windows: C:\ProgramData\Scaler Music\Scaler 3

Support for importing user presets to Scaler 3 for iPad is coming soon via a software update.
