It’s quite funny that this question come up so often because this was the entire reason I wanted Scaler! I was always a touring artist whom didn’t really understand music theory as a young professional so I always wanted software that detects your melody and suggests chords and scales. That’s what Scaler does but many people seem to want it to suggest specific chords whereas I like the way Scaler allows you to easily look at the chords, bind them and play over the melody. You can just match up the note names with chord names too.
Maybe we need a suggest chord for melody specifically but I have never seen this work and found it too restrictive, including in many of the other music theory based apps.
I’m curious as to whether anyone has seen this working well in any software without restriction or complication?

Hookpad has a fairly nice implementation where it suggests a list of chords ranked by frequency of them being used in the context of the selected key.

Not perfect but a reasonable solution. Many times the non-chord tones are the best sounding notes of a melody.
