"Hot spot" when dragging chords is confusing

This is a suggestion for the UI behaviour when dragging chords. It’s not “broken” - just confusing.

When dragging, the UI shows the mouse pointer and also the outline of the chord(s) being dragged. And when dropping into its new destination, this can be to replace an existing chord or to insert between chords. This determination appears to be made based on the left edge of the dragged chord outline. The effect is non-intuitive if the original click and drag was at a point near the right side of the dragged chord. It would make more sense if the determination of the target “drop zone” was based on the position of the mouse pointer and not the left edge of the dragged chord.

Is this description clear? If not I can easily make a screen recording to illustrate it.

in my view the mouse cursor should change to indicate an insert or replace mode during drag and drop…that could not be that difficult…

I just check Scaler 2… there is a switch / insert / replace mode, nicely implemented with colors (switch=green / replace=red) during drag & drop, that should be made available as well.
