Dragging MIDI file into a user track for easy melody input

Standalone version:

I am trying to copy/drag a .mid/midi file exported from StaffPad/Dorico into Scaler 3.2. Is there a way to do this so the notes/rhythms of the melody appear in a specific track and position on a User track?

I know I can play into it directly. Also, is there a way to continue the metronome click throughout the recording if I play a melody directly into User tracks?

I now know how to keep the metronome click playing while recording into a User track…

click on the metronome to activate the click beyond the one bar lead in.
