Drag to copy bars in Arrange viewer

Is this a bug? In the Arrange view, I cannot Alt-drag past end of arrangement to copy selecting bars. Here are the steps (tested using Scaler 3 v1.0.3.c53a073 in Windows 11):

  1. Start Scaler (standalone or as a plugin)
  2. In Section A, choose a scale, e.g. “C Major scale”
  3. Drag and select all seven diatonic chords
  4. Right-click and select “Add to Main Track” three times to create a 21-bar arrangement
  5. Go to Section C
  6. Drag to select all 21 chords: observe how dragging past the end of the screen causes the arrangement to scroll as expected
  7. Using the horizontal scroll bar, scroll until the first chord is visible
  8. Try to copy the 21 chords by press Alt and dragging to the right

When dragging beyond the end of the screen, the scroll bars do not move and, instead, Scaler 3 assumes (I believe) that I’m trying to copy the selection as MIDI to another application. Is there a keyboard modifier to allow me to drag and copy the bars to the end of the arrangement instead?

In general, working with long sequences of chords is really tedious. Selecting, moving and copying them seems to be a lot more work than it should be. Keyboard shortcuts (e.g. Ctrl+A to select all) might be a useful addition. I really like the idea of the Arrange view but arrangements longer than about 16 bars become very unwieldy to work with.

Hey @rcook Just checking you have been using the zoom functionality?

I agree that it can be a little tricky to make full arrangements in Scaler 3 on the arrange page. It’s fairly straightforward if you are copying and pasting but making lots of small changes across a large arrangement isn’t ideal. I find it easier sometimes to work in loop mode and DAW sync so I only need to think in terms of sections (see a video below). Our main focus for 3.2 will be greatly enhancing the arrangement functionality. its funny because everyone was happy work within the Scaler 2 confines which you still can do, but now there is an extra layer people want to be working with that extra layer. All good. There was always an element of let people use it and adapt to how they use it.

Thanks for your response and the link to the other thread. I look forward to seeing how the Arrange user experience evolves over time!
