Drag and Drop From Scaler 3 Arranger to Bitwig Studio (VST3) Transposes Audio via Keys Lock and Binding

I don’t know if this is a bug or a feature.

If I drag and drop a selection of chords from the Arranger in Scaler 3 into Bitwig Studio (connected to the DAW via VST3), either as a Scene or into the regular track, the midi notes appear to be the same notes in the Bitwig midi edtor as compared to the Arranger > Midi Editor in Scaler.

With DAW Sync enabled, the chords played during playback in Scaler are different than the audio playback of the midi data in Bitwig. I have found I need to do two things:

  1. Disable “Keys Lock”. This appears to impact which chords are played back, which may transpose the playback audio. This might be a feature.
  2. Turn off “Binding”. This appears to impact which chords are played during playback, which may play the wrong set of chords that were imported into Bitwig. This seems like a bug.

I’ve had a similar issue in Logic. Dragged and dropped chords from Scaler 3 arrange page onto a midi track. After removing scaler control plugin, I play the midi back with a stock piano in Logic. Then notes like A3 appear on the piano roll but A1 is actually playing back.

Not sure what’s going on there but it’s definitely a problem.

Hi @tperkins837 and @Velvis, thanks for posting - and apologies for the long gap in response.

There were some earlier issues around MIDI not translating cleanly when dragged from Scaler into a DAW, but these appear to have been resolved in versions since launch. I’ve just tested this in Scaler 3.2 on macOS with Logic Pro, and haven’t been able to reproduce the behaviour described.

If you’re still seeing this in Scaler 3.2, please let us know and we’ll be happy to take another look.
