The Guardian, a left wing (some would say) rag in the UK, today ran an article about researchers who applied the maths of viral transmission to music downloads, and found it was a very good fit.

It’s interesting that this publication was not in some coffee table magazine, but in a serious tier one academic journal.
They didn’t include Balkan music in their analysis
