Can we please stop setting the default Windows VST install location as Program Files\Steinberg?

it seems quite outdated

It’s still the closest thing to a “standard” location for VST2.
And, you know, Steinberg invented VST.

What is the reason for not giving users options for install path?

It’s there in v1.0.6. Please download the latest installer from your scalermusic.com account

Are you running on Windows or Mac? The Windows installer does give you the option to change the install path.

Hi, yes, I’m running W11 and I can change the path; however, I do not have a Steinberg directory and the installer wants to create it…it’s just unnecessary, just start at "C:". I have all my plugins installed so that I can back them up easily and not across deep buried folders ( C:\VST\ ). This was enormously helpful recently when I built my new PC. Anyway, sorry for the rant, but it’s a pet peeve going back to the 90’s. Steinberg’s invention of VST is irrelevant to my filesystem

I just installed the latest update and told it to install to my C:\VST folder and it totally ignored it. I have crap in Program Files, Common Files, and freaking ..\User\Public Documents!! Seriously guys? This is just messy.

I think the real solution would be something that exists in Reaper:
Define all the paths you need:
