I am a bit of a novice to daw music but am enjoying playing around with Scaler 3 and Reaper. I need a bit of advice on how to actually set it up.
I don’t tend to want set chord progressions and use scaler to create the chords but choose the chords as a like throughout the piece.
So for each instrument I would like to use the phrases, sometimes the key lock to chords and sometimes the key lock to the scale. So I end up with 4 tracks in reaper per instrument.
Track 1 is for the phrases where I find ones I like and drag out the midi
Track 2 I record midi and into an instance of scaler with chords key lock
Track 3 I record midi and into an instance of scaler with scale key lock
Track 4 contains the actual instrument vst and i record any free midi( not linked to scaler) and all my articulation key switches
Tracks 1-3 all route into track 4
So that means each instrument has 4 tracks and 2 instances of scaler.
It seems unwieldy. Is there a better way?
