Basic Scaler 3 Ableton 12 midi integration

Hello, Scaler3 n00b here; I’m trying to setup basic integration between Scaler3 and Ableton12 (and not trying to do multi-midi workflow as detailed in this thread).

See screenshot; I’ve

  1. Created a Midi track and put the Scaler 3 VST plugin into it

  2. Set the input selector on the Scaler 3 track to my keyboard

  3. Created another MIDI track with an ableton grand piano and routed midi from the Scaler 3 track to it

  4. In the VST, disabled daw sync and enabled the little link toggle button on the bottom right

  5. Set the Keys Lock to “Scale Notes Mapped”

When I hit a C, D or E key on the keyboard, it plays the mapped chord fine in the VST, but the the full midi notes of the chord aren’t coming through to the VST (I’ve set up a midi monitor in the scaler3 track to verify that – just the individual notes are coming through).

Any ideas on what might be happening here (and/or are there any good guides for this)?

Hi @sozinizos. Welcome to the forum. Note that you can find a Scaler 3 DAW MIDI routing guide on the forum’s Documents and Resources page which includes instructions for Ableton Live. So have a read through and make sure you have things configured correctly

Make sure to use the VST, not the AU version of Scaler 3. And make sure you have Scaler 3 set as both the ‘MIDI From’ device and channel on the recipient track.
