Does anyone know when the 3.1 update will be released?
Coming in Scaler 3.1 June 24 2025 - Scaler 3 Support / Known Issues - Scaler Music - Community Forum
Will 3.1 enable midi files to be opened in Scaler as has previously been mentioned but not in this recent communication?
Hi @stingray
Just to clarify – are you referring to drag-and-drop MIDI detection, or importing user MIDI directly into the User Track on the Arrange Page?
Drag-and-drop MIDI detection is already supported in the latest version of Scaler 3 (v1.0.7).
Importing user MIDI directly into the User Track will not be included in 3.1, though it is on the roadmap for a future update. Cheers.
I don’t need all the tracks in a midi file, I just want to import my own patterns - so can we copy a pattern to the file where the rest of the patterns are kept?
It would be good to know if this is possible.
cheers.
June 26 I believe I think
Hi @stingray, thanks for your reply.
At this stage, it’s not possible to add your own MIDI files to a local folder where they would be imported alongside existing content, and automatically adapted to the selected scale.
Currently, the User Track allows you to write your own MIDI notes manually. In the future, we plan to expand the User Track’s capabilities – including the ability to import custom MIDI patterns. This has always been on our roadmap, and it’s clear that it’s something many users would find valuable. That said, implementing this feature is more complex than it might seem, so we appreciate your patience as we work toward it.
Hope that answers your question – feel free to reach out if you need anything else. Cheers.
Steven,
Thanks, I appreciate your answer and the fact that it’s a fairly complex task, hopefully we’ll get there in the near future.

<cough, cough> June 24…
Hehe. No pressure @davide…
Fantastic love that! I am uploading what will hopefully be our gold master. So all on track for eating cake on the 24th!
hi Steve has there been any updates or changes to the manual?
Would be helpful to be able to import my own midi patterns and have them follow the Scaler Chords.
Actually, I’d be satisfied if we could edit existing patterns in Scaler and have them still follow chords. Sometimes I just want to change one note, but then the chord following stops working.
Hi!
I am planning to publish my German video about Scaler 3.1 tomorrow (June 24th). But there is no automatism. If you push the launch date of the update back again, I won’t publish the video. If you push back the date, please leave a public message about it here so I do not accidently publish before the launch.
Thank You!
Make or break update for me but I have some faith
Hi @daisy – yep, the user guide’s been updated to reflect the new features introduced in 3.1. We’ve also expanded on existing features and functionality (Detection is now more comprehensive) and made various corrections throughout. Cheers.
So far so good! I’m going to go insomniac mode for awhile on this but I love the welcome tutorial and things seem to be running smoother. Working on a nice track with it so far with no complaints!
I like the addition of the intro tutorial - will definitely benefit those new to Scaler 3. I’ll have a play tomorrow…
