Humanize (Swing & Quantize) aren’t working or affecting Motions when playing the UI keyboard. Humanize only has an effect when a main track has been created. Should be able to hear the swing and quantize effect with live input from the keyboard.
HI @paulosborn
Im not able to replicate this. If I open a new session, select a scale and turn on motions and humanise it works even before I have added anything to the main track. I hear ‘Accento’ as the Motion and 1/4 triplets as the quantise - both when clicking UI and also when triggering via MIDI. Are you not hearing the same or do you have steps for us to follow?
Hi @davide, open a new session, but “don’t” select a new scale (keep the default as None), turn on Motions and Humanize and you’ll hear Accento as the motion but the 1/4 triplets won’t be affecting the motion by playing the UI keyboard or inputting chords via midi keyboard. I will only hear the effect of the 1/4 triplets if I “do” select a scale first and press a chord pad on Scaler’s UI. (Not the keyboard UI or Midi input). I’m using Scaler 3 in a way where I just want to trigger/use its Motions in a live setting via midi keyboard input under normal playing circumstances (i.e. playing my own chords on a midi keyboard). I feel Scaler 3 should be able to work this way?
Just to add @davide, the above anomalous behaviour is the same for Voice Grouping. i.e. not having any effect on incoming midi from an external keyboard or the UI’s own keyboard (when not using chords set up within Scaler itself). Also, its the iPad version of Scaler 3 just to be clear.
Hi @davide were you able to look into this issue after my reply to your question? I’m planning to create a really exciting project that involves Loopy Pro controlling Scaler 3 but it relies on my issue being resolved? Is it a bug? Can it be addressed in a future update? (See my reply to your question in this thread). Sorry to labour the point, I really love Scaler 3 and you guys are doing an amazing job and if I can get this issue resolved I’ll be able to create a unique project which I can share with others that really shows off Scaler 3’s live potential!
Thanks in advance Davide.
Hi @paulosborn I checked this one out and Quantise doesn’t seem to be affecting live note input. It’s not really designed to do so but it should. So I wouldn’t call it a bug - been like this since Scaler 3 release on desktop. I will have this looked at but can’t make any promises as to when. Hopefully it’s fairly straightforward and makes Scaler 3.3 – Thanks for letting us know.
Thanks so much @davide, would be wonderful if a fix happens in Scaler 3.3, fingers crossed and much appreciated!
