Hi!
I’ve tried deleting everything, downloaded latest version from Plugin Boutique, reinstalling, restarting, rescanning etc.
Only the AU version shows up
M2 Ventura 13.5
Thanks

Hi @bobbyquine. I can’t think of any reason for this happening outside of some Ableton Live settings. I’m running an M2 with Sonoma and can see AU, VST2 and VST3 variants of Scaler 2 in and Live 12.1.5.
You can always check if the Scaler2.vst3 file is correctly located in Macintosh HD - Library - Audio - Plug-Ins - VST3
And also make sure Ableton Live’s settings are correctly configured for VST2 and VST3 plugins. https://help.ableton.com/hc/en-us/articles/209068929-Using-AU-and-VST-plug-ins-on-macOS
You may also need to look for the plugin in another DAW to check if it is something Ableton Live related, and not an install issue.
I’m in the same boat.
Can’t see the vst3 or the vst2 plugins in Live 12.1.5. They are both in the corresponding folders.
The AU seems ok. Windows version is fine too.
This also happens in Studio One 7 and PluginBuddy on MacOS.
Whoever, I can see both the vst3 and vst2 versions in Bitwig
M3, Sonoma 14.5 | Scaler 2.1.1
After some digging around, I think the answer is that you have to run Live with Rosetta (https://help.ableton.com/hc/en-us/articles/4415807634322-How-to-open-Live-using-Rosetta-on-macOS), because the scaler mac vsts are not compiled for Apple Silicon.
I may be completely wrong with my reasoning here, but after running live with rosetta I was able to see scaler vst3.
Hi folks. Very strange to hear this. Scaler 2 is definitely running natively on Apple Silicon so need to bother with Rosetta.
We’re all running Apple Silicon Macs with Sonoma here and have no trouble seeing the VST plugin in Ableton Live. If the Scaler 2 VST plugin is appearing fine in Bitwig I can only assume it is an Ableton Live configuration issue. It’s always advisable to keep VST3 installs in the default location, so simply enabling Use VST3 System Folder in Live’s settings should do the trick without needing to enable or specify a custom VST3 location.
Again I’d point you back to the Ableton support article linked above, but please let us know if you keep having this issue. Happy to look into it further if need be.
Huh… I’ve got the latest Scaler 2 version (2.9.1) and it works (at least in Studio One). Also the AU2 version works in Live too.
For some reason the download at Plugin Boutique account was defaulting to an older version (2.1.1) so I was getting that previously.
Btw, as far as I know the Bitwig plugin host handles gracefully intel build on ARM machines - Plug-in Hosting & Crash Protection in Bitwig Studio | Bitwig
(Of course, I may be completely wrong here).
Anyway… looking forward to Scaler 3
