Feature: Chord Enrichment Menu
In Scaler 3, an interactive menu would appear above each selected chord, offering various options to enhance and modify it while staying within the same key and mood.
-
Inversions & Voicings:
• Options for root position, 1st inversion, and 2nd inversion.
• Users can manually adjust or listen to suggested inversions before selecting. -
Chord Extensions & Variations:
• Suspended Chords: Suggests sus2 or sus4 variations.
• Added Tone Chords: Provides options like add6, add9, or add11 where musically appropriate.
• Diminished & Altered Chords: Offers dim7, half-diminished, or altered dominant chords based on harmonic context. -
Harmonic Substitutions (Staying Within the Key/Mode):
• Suggests alternative chords that serve the same harmonic function.
• Example: Instead of Cmaj7, it could propose Em9 or Am7 as smoother alternatives.
• Ensures the substitutions maintain the overall harmonic mood without leaving the scale or mode. -
Dynamic Progression Suggestions:
• When a chord progression is selected, the system suggests smoother or more dramatic transitions.
• Example: Instead of a standard II-V-I, it could propose alternative reharmonization options for a more unique sound.
This feature would help users transform basic triads and common chord progressions into richer, more expressive harmonies. While Scaler 3 already has a “Suggest Chords” feature, this would be a more direct, chord-based, and mode-preserving enrichment system.
