Problem with Midi Capture

Hallo,

I’m using FL Studio as a DAW and I’m having a problem with my MIDI keyboard. When I play something, everything sounds normal. But as soon as I drag and drop the played MIDI notes onto a VST into the channel and then press play, it automatically plays with additional + pitch bend. Why is this and how can I deactivate it? THX

Hi @Jorgo welcome to the forum. After dragging MIDI to your DAW be sure to disable Perform in Scaler 2. Otherwise Scaler will be performing the MIDI it receives, which will add additional notes.

Hallo,

Thanks for the quick reply. If I knew how to do it, then I would have done it a long time ago,
it’s not that I have the problem now, but since I bought Scaler,
I have spent so many hours trying to find the solution BUT unfortunately without success.
Please provide a more detailed description.

THX

Hi @Jorgo there is a ‘Perform’ button at the top of Scaler’s interface to turn performances / articulations on off. When this is off, Scaler will play your incoming MIDI data as it is without adding extra flair. When it is on. Scaler will perform the MIDI data potentially adding extra notes and expressions. You will want to make sure this is off after dragging MIDI to your DAW.

You may like to watch Davide’s Scaler 2 beginner’s guide for more info about this kind of thing in Scaler 2:

im actually having a similar problem except when i drag my notes into the track the performance completely changes

I bypass scaler 2 once the notes are on the track so perfom doesnt apply to my case

Hi @blastbeat914 as mentioned above, this is usually a case of not disabling Perform in Scaler 2 (clicking Perform button highlighted in above image) after dragging MIDI to your DAW.

Thanks Tristan. Do you have to turn off perform even if Scaler is bypassed or turned off?

I shouldn’t think so. This is only relevant if you are playing the MIDI you dragged to your DAW back into Scaler, say to be played by Scaler’s internal sounds.

That makes sense. My issue was that regardless of whether Scaler was on, off, or removed after dragging, the problem persisted. I found a workaround by using a separate track and loading Scaler as an instrument (internal) instead of an effect. Then, I clicked “Record” in the plugin’s instrument section in Logic and dragged the MIDI from there.

I’ve been using Scaler for years and never encountered this issue—very odd.

Thank you again!

Unfortunately, your tips didn’t help. The error still persists – to me, it looks like a programming issue. The only way to work around the problem is to either remove the open Scaler plugin OR delete everything in the VST wrapper settings under MIDI in or out—not just setting it to 0, but completely deleting it.

BUT I still want to use the plugin while editing or making corrections in the DAW. As I said, the problem occurs as soon as I press play – then the pitch jumps to 0.00 instead of staying at 0.50.
