Newbie asking what's included

I’m a guitarist and I’m considering buying Scaler.

Does it come with drum patterns (loops). If not, then how do you implement drums? Do you add loops? Or do you have to place each drum sound sequentially as a sampled sound into MIDI? Seems like a big hassle.

Also, does it come with Bass sounds? if not, will accept any VST bass sounds?

No, it does not come with any kind of loops or drums. Personally, I use Jamstix and create sections, for example Intro 4 bars, verse 8 bars, Chorus 8 bars etc. Then I select a rhythm, drummer, drum kit in Jamstix and it creates the rhythms by using, as they say AI, but I don’t believe it being AI. Anyway, the result is excellent.

Yes, it comes with several bass sounds, and also if you reroute Scaler track with a bass expression to a track with any bass instrument it will work with the latter. Or if you drag and drop midi ftom Scaler bass to a track with bass the result will be the same.

Thanks. Though, I do not play drums, thus I don’t know how to program them. I usually rely on loops to get things going. How hard is it to program drums using Jamstix?

Jamstix is very easy to program. It is not a drum machine, but an FX developed by a company Rayzoon Technologies. There is a basic package and you can buy additional rhythm packages e.g. BonzoPak (obviously - in the style of late Led Zeppelin drummer) or DarkSide (in the style of Nick of Pink Floyd), or MetalPak, etc. The basic package is a bit more expensive, 99$, with the occasional sales, and the additional packages are somewhere from 9 to 49 Dollars, also on sale several times a year. For more infomations, see their catalog.
Search on their site to find more information and there are also videos on Youtube. I have absolutely no talent for drums and I managed to use it with no problem. :grinning:
