My musical composition was flagged on TikTok for Copyright Issues

I would like to let everyone including the creators of Scaler to know that I recently uploaded a musical composition directly to TikTok just to see if it would detect any copyright and it did. Tiktok’s algorithm does not tell you what about your stuff that is the problem. What I do know is that their algorithm flags your audio if it sounds SIMILAR to another audio. Algorithm: “You sound like this other audio, but yours is not the same as this!”. My own theory about this is that If you use the “common rhythms” be careful. I did more research online with A.I. searches and it told me that tiktok algorithm likes to flag “rhythms”; even though so many songs use the same rhythms as other songs. I worked very hard to create this composition and am so proud of it because its my best creation yet. Even if my song really did sound similar to something else they have in their sound library, how is possible that I could create a song that is identical to someone else’s audio? This is not the first time that tiktok has flagged something of mine, but I am get a huge feeling that tiktok has become a trashy platform. All because of their algorithm alone. Lastly, has anyone else ever had their songs flagged by tiktok? if so, what did you do to avoid it, because I am thinking that even with a distributor who can get my songs on the platform and a registered copyright of my song, I don’t think I want my songs on tiktok, anymore.

As a lot of music used well established chord progressions (I-IV-V, I-V-vi-IV, etc), usage of standard Scaler generated melodies/patterns may cause problems like this. If you are using the Scaler instruments or not having your own melody on top may make a strike more likely.

Forgive me if you aren’t doing any of these, but I feel “composers”/producers who rely too heavily on these are as likely to get copyright issues as easily as those using loops or sample packs from the likes of Splice, etc.

I admit to using I-V-vi-IV as frequently as the next person, perhaps more so as it’s something that comes naturally as a guitarist I think, but I always seem to make them different.

See what I find interesting is that with most of my creations I use a combination of different chord progressions I like to mix a lot of sevenths with triads, Even using different chords at different pitches. So even though it may sound like something else it’s not the same. I even tried to check my creation with the Shazam app to see if it would pull up and identical song I did it a couple times and the results did not show any of the other pieces of audio to be even close to the same arrangement as mine. It just doesn’t make sense.

I suppose that you know the expression “AI Hallucinations”. Invented “facts”, etc. I don’t know what Tiktok uses as AI engine nor how was it trained, but I wouldn’t be surprised that it really mixes up things.

BTW, did you try to upload your music to some other platforms? If it passes elsewhere, this would point to the errors in Tiktok algorithm.

This has nothing to do with Scaler 3 and more to do with TikTok trying to prevent people posting the same thing. I’ve never heard of anything Scaler 1, 2 or 3 created being flagged as an issue. Chords cannot be copyrighted only melodies can. The melodies, phrases and all content in Scaler 3 are handmade and crafted by our own musicians and everyone is allowed to use them.

I’m going to change the title of this thread as it is misleading.
