Modulation doesn't actually change scale?

Hi, I’m a bit confused about the modulation feature. Obviously the point of modulation is to go from one scale to another. From my understanding, to be able to compose effectively in the new scale with Scaler, it would need to be “aware” (as if you had selected that target scale in the first window) of the new scale. Many of the features in Scaler depend on the scale you’ve selected.

So I’m surprised that, as far as this feature is concerned, Scaler doesn’t seem to be aware at all of the modulation - it remains “stuck” on the original scale, and if you were to go back and manually select the target scale, now all of your previous scales have the wrong degree etc…

In other chord progression tools, you can easily say at some point in the pattern “and now the scale changes to …”, but it seems like Scaler does not have that feature? Am I missing something? It seems weird that there is this complicated modulation feature but no way to seamlessly compose in both scales.

From what I can tell, the only way to really do it would be to go and toggle the selected scale depending on what section of your composition you are working in, or to simply have the separate sections saved as separate Scaler projects. Both are somewhat tedious…

Hi @chairbender. Welcome to the forum. Indeed there is currently no way to automate changing the selected scale. So for now you will need to manually select the appropriate scale.

This as well as other automation functions are on the roadmap for a future update, but there is no ETA for this feature right now.
