MIDI playable resonator?

I see scaler EQ mainly as a brilliant sound design tool. It’s a great resonator, it would really enhance it if it could be played via MIDI input.

I know there are 3 scale switchers that can be controlled by automation, but it’s not really possible to play chords with them because it’s just 3 slots.

Hey @clavia Agreed! That is coming in Scaler EQ 1.2. We are working on this and other features and we are planning to drop Q2 25. Would have liked it to be earlier but our efforts are on something else at the moment. Going to be fun though!

Then I have something to look forward to. Kudos to you for giving a first look in advance and the quick response.

This is something I also feel is missing from Scaler EQ. I’ve managed a work around in Ableton, as Scaler EQ allows each degree of the scale to be midi assignable so you can assign that to midi notes on a keyboard. Using a max4live device I was able to play chords on Scaler EQ like a resonator which is really cool. But it was time consuming to setup, and despite saving as a custom rack device, it still needs to be manually assigned again for every new project, which drains away creative energy and not worthwhile effort.

I’m excited to see how you develop this natively in version 1.2! It would be a real gamechanger!

The way I see it working is that Midi is routed into the plugin via sidechain. That offers flexibility to be able to route in midi notes/chords from other tracks in the DAW.

Welcome to the forum @chordsplitter I love Scaler EQ, we were close to all of this but all hands on deck went to Scaler 3. We just need a few months so hoping middle 2025.

Glad to hear you’re working on that! I came to the forum to make that very suggestion and realised I’m not the only one. Its a great plugin, congrats!
