I;m trying to rid my world of Microsoft Windows. I have Linux up and running on a workstation. I;ve seen here that Scaler 2 runs well in Linux using yabridge and Wine. How about Scaler 3? works fine? any issues?
I;m running the latest version of Kubuntu and Bitwig Studio Linux version
anyone?
I have it working on Ubuntu 24.04, yabridge and wine-9.0 (stable, not staging, in my case). I did need to get the latest directX installed in the wine prefix to get around an unresponsive UI - I used:
winetricks dxvk2030
An earlier attempt at just dxvk did not work, but with the more specific dxvk2030 I was good. The standalone works, and the VST3 works in Bitwig Studio’s native Linux version.
Thx for response. I;ve determined that it is too difficult and even not possible for me to use Linux for music. I use Native Instruments Kontakt instruments a lot and it is way too much effort to maybe get them to work in Linux..Scaler 3 seems better altho not by much. So looks like I am stuck using my Windows workstation. I find this unfortunate because both my Bitwig and Studio One have native Linux. My controller and keyboard have Linux scripts, and my audio interface works fine in Linux…maybe next year
Yeah, Native Instruments on Linux is definitely a problem. I had some of their older stuff working, but with the newer Native Access none of the workarounds I found worked for me, and I eventually had to give up and move on.
