I think it would be cool to have a button in the arrange page where you click it and it generates random arpeggios, performances, chord follow tracks, and randomly assigned instruments on these tracks. These already follow the main track so this would be really neat for instant inspiration. Thanks!

I think there is scope to introduce quite a few randomizing features in Scaler 3.

  • You could have a randomize button in the track parameter section that would randomize stuff like inversion, octave etc.

  • A track could have a way to randomize the motion within it so, for example, a passages track would switch to using a different passage.

  • You could create a new random track that would choose one of the many motion types and a variant of those types.

  • You could create a random chord progression, or have an option to randomly change a few chords in an existing progression to more colourful variations.

  • You could even have a “create a random song” button, which would create an x bar progression plus, say, 4 tracks to give bass, arp, pad and melody tracks, which starts getting into RapidComposer and InstaComposer territory.

There are many, many options within Scaler 3 and some randomizing would give happy accidents a chance to happen and may well lead us to things we would not have tried manually.

So my vote is for dice everywhere!

I agree, I would even be happy if they just made it where it loads the arpeggios, phrases, etc. that are already in scaler 3. There is so much good content is scaler 3 that it would take me a really long time to listen to each phrase, arp, etc. It would speed things up for me if I could press a button and instantly have something that already fits together thanks to the main track and gives me a place to start from. This would also be a great way to quickly explore all the great content in scaler 3 as you cycle through until you find something you really like.
