I’ve tried a lot of things, but there’s a chord I don’t know if I can make, Dm7/G. How do people make this? Those who know will understand that this can be read as G7sus4, but it’s not exactly the same. Can someone who knows how to do it tell me? In the end, will I have to press the MIDI keys with DetectMidi in OpenDetectMode? If that’s the case, I won’t need all the functions on the browser screen.
Just drag a Dm7 into the Main Track and go to the MIDI Editor in Arrange and add a G. You will get a G7,9Sus4 which is the identical chord. You can change the voicing however in the Arrange Page. I love to do this and watch all the corresponding tracks adjust live!
Hello Davide
Thanks for your reply
I see, I never thought of doing it in the arrange tab.
I think that’s a great idea. I didn’t know there was a way to do this with Scaler3, which is quite inflexible. I’ll definitely take a look at it
Thank you
Gaku
Can we just input the chord manually? For example, Dm7/G. As convenient as ezkey2?
Sure thing, click on Create page and start typing in the search box.
Just bear in mind here:
Dm7/G is a Dm7 chord, but with G as the bass note ( or an inversion of the Dm7 chord). It’s commonly thought of as a Gsus7 chord, with the addition of a 9th and 11th.
So every software interprets this differently. I like the way I did it my example above. It keeps me in control, gives me visual feedback and educates me nicely.
What’s a “Create page”?
Hi @GOATaudio. Davide introduces the Create Page at this point in the In Depth Overview video. The Circle of Fifths panel within the Create Page is where you can search for and input chords manually. Hope that helps, cheers.
