How do I assign midi CC#s?

First off congrats to the team on another excellent release. Carbon Electra sounds fantastic. I’m loving the new features especially scale lock, chord mode, the sequencer and the fact that CE2 can convert pngs to custom waveterrain or wave tables. Absurd.

However, to this point I haven’t found a way to assign MIDI CC#02, 11 (Breath Control, Expression) to CE2 parameters like Volume, Filter Cutoff, amp etc so that I can expressively control CE2 with my wind controllers. This will unfortunately limit its usefulness in my workflow as I prefer wind controllers to keyboard. Wind controllers offer expressiveness that keyboards cannot and send ccs for bite control, thumb wheels and other controls but CC#02 and 11 are the bare minimum and absolutely critical as breath control is necessary to make sound (breath controls volume, velocity, filter).

Is there any way I can just simply be missing a matrix or some other way to do this currently? If not, can it be added sooner than later @davide @Tristan ? Please don’t break my heart. :folded_hands:t4:

Most modern synths offer this. Here is a video of how it is done in Roland’s super old Zenology synth. FF to relevant part at around 8:30:

Thanks for any attention to this matter :folded_hands:t4:.

Hey @KingMidas Thanks for the support and feedback - we appreciate you! I assign CC’s using Logic’s smart controls. A broader implementation of MIDI CC’s are on our list! Let’s see how quickly we can make that happen for you!

From me reading of the User Manual I don’t think there is a MIDI Learn/Mapping feature in CE2 that would allow you to do this.

Your points regarding Wind controlers is well taken. I similarly would have expected the ability to assign aftertouch and polyaftertouch, which I don’t think is possible. Similarly there is no MPE support but I assume that would complicate the scale lock features @davide ?

Ace tip on using Logic’s smart controls. I’ll explore that workaround today as I get further acclimated with CE2. I’m in it for the long haul and appreciate hearing that expanded midi implementation is on the way.
