Feature Requests for the MIDI Editor

Hi there. I’ve recently started using Scaler 3 and I think it’s a revolutionary app. Thanks for creating it!

After building chords on the main track, I’ve been trying out entering notes manually in the arrangement view. I have a few requests regarding the MIDI Editor:

1. Regarding the chord tones shown in blue on the piano roll:

  • Add an option to also highlight chord tones in other octaves in blue.
  • Add an option to either darken or change the color of the root note.
    (Here’s an illustration of what I mean)

2. About the piano roll usability:

  • Allow double-clicking to delete notes in pencil mode
  • Allow selecting 1/32 and 1/64 note lengths
  • Allow selecting triplets
  • Allow off-grid note placement
  • Add keyboard shortcuts (e.g., space to play/pause)

You might think, “Just use a DAW for that,” but I truly believe if these features were added to an iPad version that syncs with the PC, it would create the ultimate workflow.

Thanks!

Awesoem request!

Hope the team will take this in consideration

Hi @Lita Welcome to the forum and thanks for the feedback - noted. Can I just clarify what you mean here?

@davide
Thanks for your reply!

For example, when I select C4, E4, and G4 as chord tones, I’d like to have an option that highlights the following notes on the Piano Roll:

C1, E1, G1, C2, E2, G2, C3, E3, G3, C4, E4, G4, C5, E5, G5, C6, E6, G6, C7, E7, G7, C8, E8, G8

This would be helpful when coming up with bass phrases lower than the chord tones, or string phrases in higher ranges.

@Isaac
Thanks for your assist!

Ah ok you would like the current ‘Display Main Track Chord Notes’ repeated over octaves. I have thought of this. Something we could add to the settings menu.

@davide That’s right! Here’s the image. Just like the one on the far right, coloring the route notes might make it easier to see. Thanks for considering it!
