I came up with a sequence I like and would like to play with. But I get (mentally) thrown by the strange representation of a flat-7 chord as a sharp-6. I can see no way of specifying how it is spelled within Scaler 3. See screenshot and the D# chord. How can I make this Eb??
Interestingly, if I copy the Midi to the Studio One chord track I get a different set of interpretations, but they all seem much more plausible than having D# in an F tonality:

If you click in the center of the circle of fifths you will see it change to representing the enharmonics as flats instead of sharps. I am the same as you, I need to see the representation as flats.
Thanks for the suggestion - that was what I thought was meant to change the enharmonic. But I can’t get it to work! Pressing the center has no impact of the current chord or the Circle of Fifths chords:
So I am guessing this is a bug is the center of the Circle is meant top control this. Added the “Bug” tag to the posting
Hi Brian. It is an interesting point you raise. To clarify the current behaviour, the button in the centre of the circle of fifths changes the names of notes around the circle of fifths, but not chords throughout the rest of Scaler. Their note names e.g. D# / Eb are chosen based on the currently selected scale.
This is somewhat ambiguous with a scale such as F major selected, but if you were to choose F#/Gb major scale for example, D# would be written as Eb. But perhaps there is room for refinement here.
Thanks Tristan,
I realise that sharp-VI and flat-VII can be a tricky guess - though 90% of the time I would go for flat-VII. However, what I expected to see was that when I selected E-flat in the Circle (by pressing the middle), then the list of “Circle of Fifth Chords” would all use the E-flat enharmonic and I could simply replace the D-sharp by dragging its equivalent E-flat chord, thus overriding its presentation.
I also realise that (in the current Scaler implementation) the presentation of the chord might be determined solely by the current scale, irrespective of how the chord was selected. So, if that is the case, what I expected may be tricky. But I would still like some sort of “manual override” for the presentation of of out-of-scale chords. Maybe this topic now becomes a feature request rather than a bug. Bus as you say, there is definitely “room for refinement”.
