Hey @DucksOnQuack Fixed in 3.1 due end of April. Soon!
Yep, same issue for me.
With scaler audio on detect audio, and one short sample running, my CPU hits 420-500% on the Ableton usage meter and the daw stutters as it plays back the audio.
Same as DucksOnQuack my task manager says cpu usage is spiking repeatedly but only by 12-16% above normal.
Using Ableton 12.1 on windows 10 Pro, AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, 64gb RAM & msi MAG X570 Tomahawk WIFI motherboard
Normally I barely hit the 30% level of usage with a full screen of tracks and plugins. Also, didn’t have this issue with Scaler 2.
This has been fixed in Scaler 3 1.0.6.
I have I7 14700k liquid cooled and a Asus 4080 super…
As soon as I attempt to detect audio with Scalar, I get 99% cpu usage in FL. Can anyone help with this? It will detect midi or anything else without a problem, but audio. detect, record, it goes nuts.
It seems that the problem hasn´t been fixed. I use Win 11 and Ableton 11, and my CPU peaks jumps up to 215% every 10-20 minutes. I only have opened 1 Instance of Scaler, which even isn´t in active use. I use a synth of Kontakt 7 to feed Scaler with a sound, but even when not a single midi note is played, the CPU jumps to 200-215%. It´s annoying.
Welcome to the forum, @cpetion. Just to confirm – have you installed Scaler 3 version 1.0.7?
Hi @1.Frustrated_User, sorry to hear about this. Just checking — is this happening with Scaler 3 v1.0.7? Thanks.
yes, i am using 1.07
Hi @1.Frustrated_User it sounds like your issue may be slightly different to what was being described in this thread. To clarify, there was an issue in Scaler 3 versions prior to 1.0.6 where large CPU spikes were occurring when audio detection was enabled, particularly on Windows.
It sounds like you’re saying you are getting CPU spikes every 10-20 minutes just in regular usage of Scaler 3, not specifically during audio detection. Is that correct? I’m not sure we’ve heard any other reports of this occuring and this is not something we’ve noticed in our testing.
correct. i did use audio detection at first. it works after the last update, btw. after detection i didn´t use scaler any longer, but i left the plugin on the audio track - with no further use. there is nothing on the track. no audio files or anything else. no other plug ins. in scaler i did choose a rhodes from kontakt7 as instrument sound. no third party library, it is an original native instruments library (scarbee). then the spikes appear. after i erased scaler from the audio track, there were no spikes anymore.
