Create Custom User Scales

I appreciate your extensive scale library, but but as a composer, there are various pentatonic, hexatonic, heptatonic & octatonic scale omissions that would be quite useful to add to the scaler library. I’m not talking about scala micro tunings as those are obviously beyond the scope and capabilities of the program, but rather a way for users to add to the library,

Hi @Johnnyalan and welcome to the forum. We do have our fair share of Pentatonics, Hexatonics etc. Often it’s either nomenclature or lack of distinct chordal pattern that may feel like an omission. Try playing the notes in Detect Mode to find the scale or search / filter Scale types. If you feel there’s something missing in particular that’s relevant to your work please let us know!

Your list of heptatonic scales is very good, I can only find a few omissions that would be nice to include:

Romanian Major: 1, ♭2, 3, ♯4, 5, 6, ♭7

Hungarian Major: 1, ♯2, 3, ♯4, 5, 6, ♭7

Enigmatic: 1, ♭2, 3, ♯4, ♯5, ♯6, 7

These are unique parent scales that are not part of any other scale family.

There are many Pentatonic, hexatonic and octatonic (particularly the bebop octatonic, although those are mainly used for improvization, not to build chords) that could be added.

The diverse amount of Pentatonic scales from around the world are quite useful for composition in stylistic frameworks. Many of them create unique chord shapes that are fun to work with..
