Hi, I have just bought Scaler2. And I’m also watching online lecture.
I listened Scaler2 was very powerful about Chord Generation. And I also think it is true.
Just My usage is a little different. There is PML Chord Generator in ableton live.
The PML chord generator generates and plays chords in real time using the root note when playing the root note placed by INPUT.
There is no limit to the octave, and since it can be changed using the noble during play, automation is also possible.
I just arranged the root notes in a way that I liked to hear.
And PML Chord Generator plays pretty good chords in real time based on that.
Even though I bought Scaler2 was also chord generator, but I couldn’t find like this method.
Is there any function like Scaler2? Please let me know it.
Hi @parrier, welcome to the forum. It is an interesting question. The PML chord device in Ableton Live seems to be about creating a particular chord formula, and applying that formula to incoming MIDI notes to transpose that chord.
As far as I can think there is no direct equivalent to this in Scaler 2. Scaler is more about helping you find and create chords to build a musical pattern or progression, often within the context of a musical scale.
On the main page in Scaler 2, you can use Section B to specify a chord shape and voicing which will be applied to all the (diatonic) chords of the selected scale. This is probably the closest approximation to PML Chord Generator, except that the root note is not controlled by MIDI input and is instead scale based. You can however bind this section and use MIDI notes to trigger these chords.
Alternatively you use the CHORD page to create chords by clicking on notes the piano notes. The top row of the page will suggest new chords as you add notes. But again, this chord shape will not transpose based on MIDI input.
Thanks for your answer. And It is very sad.
It was my first objective for me, That’s why I bought this.
Have a nice day.
