Scaler 3 starts malfunctioning when using voice grouping in Edit Chords mode—it becomes slow and unresponsive, forcing me to exit and restart the plugin. Editing chords while voice grouping is enabled is practically impossible due to these issues.
Hi @Dee, thanks for your post. We just tested this scenario using both the standalone version and the VST3 plugin inside Ableton Live on an M1 Mac, and didn’t notice any sluggishness or unresponsiveness.
Just wondering, have you updated to Scaler 3 v1.0.5? This update includes a number of improvements, including several general stability enhancements.
To download the update, log in at https://scalermusic.com, head to the My Products section of your account, and download the installer for Mac or Windows.
Before installing, we recommend performing a clean installation — instructions are outlined here.
If the issue persists after following the above advice, please let us know along with details of your setup (e.g., OS, DAW, or standalone version).
Cheers.
Hi, I’m experiencing a bug when enabling voice grouping and editing a chord on macbook air M2 and scaler 3 V1.0.5. When I turn off voice grouping or switch the voice grouping type, the chord freezes and won’t update. Please see the video i have uploaded for a demonstration of the issue: https://fromsmash.com/Scaler-3-bug
Hi @hicham. Thanks for your post — just getting to it now, but the link you shared has expired. Would you mind re-uploading it so we can take a look? Cheers.
Hi @Steven, here is the link. Let me know if I’m doing something wrong: https://fromsmash.com/scaler3
Thanks for that, I’ll check it out on Monday, have a good weekend
Hi @hicham. Thanks again for the video. What you’re seeing is a mix of current behaviour and something we know needs refining. The bug is really a byproduct of a situation that ideally shouldn’t be possible—editing chords while Voice Grouping is enabled. We’re aiming to improve this in a future update, likely by preventing chord editing when VG is active. Cheers.
