What note does B7 (9) contain?
Are B7 (9) and B/A the same?

The B7(9) chord consists of the following notes:

  • Root: B
  • Major 3rd: D#
  • Perfect 5th: F#
  • Dominant 7th: A
  • Sharp 9th: C#

A B/A would be a B7 chord with the A in the Bass and NO 9th note (C#) so no they are not the same. B/A doesn’t have the C#.

  • Bass note: Dominant 7th: A
  • Root: B
  • Major 3rd: D#
  • Perfect 5th: F#
