Hey all. With the latest midi channel/midi output options on tracks, I use one instance of Scaler in ableton live to control a bunch of hardware synths. It would be great to also have a hardware latency option on each track (or a global one to the vst), similar to the “hardware latency” field found on the ableton external instrument device.
If this is at all feasible, it would help me record my hardware that’s controlled by scaler in ableton to be more on time when recording.
Hi @subby187 Welcome to the forum and appreciate the feedback. You are suggesting we integrate a MIDI Delay / latency compensation within Scaler 3 right? May I ask why can we just do that in the DAW where we are recording (as you are suggesting?). Thanks.
so i played around with it some more and it looks like i can do the compensation on the “track latency” when recording my multiple instruments in so it kinda solves my problem but only on the recording end. Ideally id still like to do individual hardware latency (instead of recording) to keep scaler hardware synths in sync of hardware sequenced hardware.
Currently Id have to setup multiple scaler3 and multiple external instrument tracks on ableton to get that setup working since i have a hybrid live setup. I’d really be cool to keep integrating scaler3 with my live setup currently i can only really use it for tracking because of the latency issue with multi tracks midi out.
Thanks for experimenting. Yes it sounds like you want a Track Delay parameter for your MIDI out tracks. I wonder whether putting a MIDI Delay / Low Latency setting in the Settings menu would be better. We will have an experiment and play on our end. MIDI delay hasn’t been an issue for me but I have been running my external synths either on their own in standalone or within Logic using my saved ‘MIDI Delay’ settings.
