Am I crazy? I see extract voicing when I right click on a chord but I don’t see apply voicing
All good we put it in the sidebar for each track so you can apply different extracted voicings to different tracks (or just the main track if you want it to work like Scaler 2).
sorry man ive looked but i still can’t find apply voicing in either browse create or arrange.
why can’t it be with extract voicing when I right click? makes the most sense.
Can this be applied on a per chord basis or is it for the entire lane?
Per clip, per chord, per lane - whatever you want!
thank davide
gotta be honest though, and I’ll preface this by saying that I need more time with Scaler 3. I find this and some of the other design decisions baffling. I’m all for new and improved, but personally speaking, it’s not quite there for me yet. Fortunately, the response from other long-time users of Scaler makes me feel less alone in my thoughts and more confident that I’ll see the improvements and re-additions I now hope for.
I would say don’t be stuck in the ‘every’ old user is frustrated mindset though. You are reading a tiny portion of users here and happy ones make music and stay quiet. part of this process was not to use many of the Scaler 2 workflows because they were square pegged into a round hole! So we wanted to rethink making music with Scaler. As you can see from the reviews, from our artist network from the vast majority of users - it is highly praised.
Sure, there’s always an element of put it out there and see what they users want which is what we are doing now and the results are quite surprising.
Personally I think the arrangement needs work after we release 3.1
The arrangement was intended as a replacement for having to use multiple scalers! Not as a DAW. But users expect the later.
I guess I am saying it’s easy to come here and state our frustrations, but that is not helpful. Feature requests, specific feedback, bug reports etc. That helps us greatly.
I’m happy and making music with scaler 2 but I can’t stay quiet.
I would rather multiple instances that synced than be taken out of Cubase (which I know so well) and into another “DAW”. It’s not that it’s easy to share my frustrations, it’s that I feel compelled. when I spend more time with scaler 3, I will add more constructive comments to feedback. Problem is when I did use it, it slowed me down too much and that was frustrating.
Main track Sync is here in 3.1 due soon.
We are asking users to offer constructive criticism. This board is not for venting -. It’s for improving Scaler 3 and hearing from all users and helping those who have questions.
Venting? Come on man. I can’t help but take offense to that. How are my comments not constructive? Im detailing the problems I’m having, and I’m on this forum looking for answers and hopefully some reassurance. Do you not want negative criticism? would you prefer users stay quiet and be happy? Honestly sounds like wishful thinking to me. I’ll make a list soon and be sure I put it in the right section.
Please put the right click apply voicing to chords in the main track. It makes no sense to be able to extract and not have an apply. It was so convenient I don’t know why you would remove it. Both options would be great. Have it in both places. Thanks
While we’re on the subject, it would be great to have select all chords as well as unselect all chords. The click and drag gets kinda old when you have a lot of chords
Welcome to the fourm @poppagreg It is in exactly the same place that it was in Scaler 2. Voice Grouping menu/Extracted - see attached
Select All in the three dot track menu and right click menu is coming in 3.1
Maybe I was not clear or I am misunderstanding you. No the option I want is “apply voicing” that is missing in the menu. I can extract voicings but not apply them on the main track. Thanks
This was what my original post was referring to. Where it is now seems counterintuitive, when extract voicing is in the same place. Also, calling it “extracted” rather than “apply voicing” is in my opinion, confusing
These things can seem counterintuitive and confusing when you are used to something I get it. But Extract Voicing and Extracted is more obvious. Very few people understood S2 functionality like you and the others in this thread do.
When you use ‘Extracted’ it applies to all the chords in the main track and you can see it, and still auto voice lead from it. So it is much more powerful and flexible. I think we should have Extracted in the right click main track menu so you can apply it to one chord.
yeah i can live with it being “extracted” but the one chord apply is a must. thanks!
But how do you apply to one chord in the main menu when there no apply to option in the main right click menu? Thanks I just tried it again and there is an extract voicing option but no apply I think it should be there. I believe also on grey chords there is no option to choose a voicing in the arrange window. Am I wrong?
