Voice Grouping changes Current Scale (plugin)?

I’m using 3.3.1 on Windows. When using the plugin in Reaper, I see the following odd behavior. (I don’t seem to see it in the standalone version.)

  • On the Browse Page, I select Current Scale = “B Mixolydian b6 scale” (I know it’s an odd one)
  • At the bottom right, I click to enable “Voice Grouping : Dynamic”
  • The Current Scale changes to “E Harmonic Minor scale”. It seems to be locked - no other scale choices in the Section B list are selectable (unless/until I deactivate Voice Grouping).

I wonder if this is expected? It’s not a huge deal, just a small annoyance.

I really love this product and use it quite extensively.

Hi @techworker1 this isn’t something I’m able to replicate using Scaler 3.3.1 on Windows 11 using Reaper 7.80. Would you be able to share a screenshot to help me understand what is going on?

Also which version of Reaper are you using? Strange that you say this is not occurring when running Scaler 3 standalone.

I had done a MIDI detection before selecting a scale from the list, which seems to be the source of the problem. If I delete the detection, then it goes away. Maybe expected? (Actually the plugin and standalone behave the same.)

I will attach the project file.

Hi @techworker1 OK thanks for the update, I can replicate this. There does appear to be an issue with detection items interfering with scale selection and voice grouping. We are currently looking into this and will try to address in a coming update.

Thanks again for the report.
