Using controller or virtual keyboard to enter midi notes

How can I play a chord on my controller and have it come up as a Scaler chord somewhere which I can add to a track?

Also, can I enter midi notes into a track, either in real time or note by note in the midi editor?

I’ve looked at detect and capture, but I don’t really understand them, and I can’t tell whether what I input can be used in Scalar 3 or just dragged out into a DAW.

Hi @SpaceElf1

You can use either MIDI detection or the Circle of Fifths page for this. MIDI detection is probably easiest. Open the detection menu, select Detect MIDI, then press record and play chords on your MIDI controller. Those detected chords should appear in section A where you can add them to your main track. Note this is not currently possible using the onscreen keyboard, however this functionally will be added soon via an update.

Yes you can use a User track for either realtime recording or note entry as demonstrated in the Scaler 3.2 update video: https://youtu.be/-NIKkzb1O0U?si=NyXV8lkogOJrU4TM

Note you can also find videos demonstrating MIDI and Audio detection via the Scaler Music YouTube page: https://www.youtube.com/@scalermusic
