I have used and loved Scaler since the beginning. Having said that, it drives me crazy that I have to reset my chosen settings every time I open it. This goes for the Tutorial screen, and also other settings which I keep setting to default, but they do not. I use Windows 11 and Bitwig 6. Is this just me, or is it a shared problem?
Hey @stevek Are you using the latest version? Please reinstall Scaler 3.2 and restart your machine. Defaults should be saved as expected.
Thanks for looking at this. I have done as you suggested, but I still cannot save new default settings in the standalone or plugin. When I reopen them, they always revert to your defaults.
If others are not having this problem, it must be something wrong at my end, although I am at a loss to think what the problem might be?
Can you give us a little more info please? Are you saving the DAW sessions and reopening? Are you saving a preset within Scaler 3 and recalling? If you provide exact steps maybe we may be able to help you further.
In my DAW, I change the settings to my chosen ones, click “save as default”, but when I reopen that project, Scaler has reverted to it’s own default settings. It’s the same in the standalone. Also, the same applies to the option on the tutorial at start-up. But it’s not a show-stopper, it’s just a bit annoying. I just wondered if others had the same thing. Thanks anyway.
I faced the same issue in my DAW. Sometimes when project reloaded then Scaler 3.2.1 not remember last saved state. Don’t know why. But it looks like something with AutoSync.
- In Leader mode DAW remember AutoSync settings
- In Follower mode DAW not remember AutoSync settings and will broke my tracks

Hi @stevek and @tomasmark79,
Thanks for your posts and welcome to the forum, tomasmark79.
stevek – I haven’t been able to reproduce the issue exactly. When I save settings as defaults, they persist between new projects, saved projects, and different DAWs.
There is, however, a known issue around defaults and creating a new session:
- Saved default settings (Playback or Preferences) don’t apply immediately after creating a new session.
- They do apply after closing and reopening the plugin. In standalone mode, defaults aren’t retained if a new session was created before closing.
This will be addressed in a future update.
Is it possible you created a new session during your attempt to save settings? That might explain the behaviour.
As a workaround, you can try deleting the settings.pref file (found in C:\ProgramData\Scaler Music\Scaler 3) and then rebooting. If your preferences file has become corrupt, this refresh could help.
tomasmark79 – regarding AutoSync and live sync settings not being remembered in Follower mode: I haven’t been able to reproduce this in testing on Logic Pro 12 and Bitwig Studio 6 on macOS. When I reloaded both projects, both Scaler tracks were in the expected state and were synced correctly, along with other settings.
If there’s anything I’ve overlooked, or if you have more details I can investigate further. Thanks.
Hi Steven,
Although I don’t think the bit about creating a new session applies, deleting the (presumably) corrupted file, as you suggested, has worked. Both the standalone and VST versions now seem to remember my preferences, which is great. Thanks very much for your help.
Steve.
In Bitwig 6.0.4 Scaler 3.2.2 start works partially. More info in this threat:
