When I try to import this midi file into scaler 3 I just get a pinwheel, then nothing comes through. I loaded it in logic (left side of screenshot), so I know it works— I then tried to re-export it through logic and it still didn’t work. I then created my own midi file in logic and exported that and tried to load that in Scaler 3 and still nothing. I think that’s exactly what I’m doing. I don’t know how to upload a video here but I made a screen recording (two, one where I selected Detect Midi first then record and one the other way since the rec light seemed to stop blinking when I selected it), and both times it timed out, video links below. There is no need to click on the record button once it becomes red. You did it mostly correctly, exept for clicking on the red button, but this changes nothing (I tested it, too, with my MIDI and no trouble). What I see is that your cursor is turning for a long time. Is your MIDI file huge? I also think there are some MIDI files that cause trouble when trying to import. I don’t remember where I saw this. Can you try, just for the test, import a small MIDI that I attached? This is the one that worked for me. This is strange. It took me a few seconds after I clicked on the file in the Explorer, but not as long as in your case, and finally I had it. Knowing how the import works in both , standalone and FX, could help the team to easier find the problem. Can you also provide more information about your system, OS version, CPU, etc. ---

Oh, okay I see that, I was expecting to see the midi arrangement in the arrange tab, not just the chords in the browse tab. Is there a way to get the midi arrangement when imported or no? Also, the midi file I had had two lines in it, a bass line and a melody line, but only the melody line showed up in the browse tab, is there a way to access the lower parts from that midi file? Thanks for all your help. Oh and system is 2021 M1 Macbook Pro on Tahoe 26.2. I also have an M4 Mac Mini, but I haven’t tried it on that yet, but can test on that if there’s a reason to. ---

What do you mean by midi arrangement? Notes in piano roll or so? The only thing you can see immediately after the import are the detected chords in the browse tab or, if you select them all and select “Add to Main Track” in the context menu, in the Arrangment tab. At this moment, tempo is not imported, but I think that I’ve see that this will come in one of the following versions. By clicking on a chord in the Arrangment tab, you can see its MIDI (notes) representation in piano roll. Concerning the import of the lower parts - I don’t believe that this this is possible at this moment. @Steven , @Tristan - do you know if this is possible and how? I could not find. Thanks ---

Hi @Miki I believe your question relates to this thread which is an increasingly popular topic [Importing MIDI into Scaler 3 while keeping rhythm/timing of the chords - #12 by Tristan](https://forum.scalermusic.com/t/importing-midi-into-scaler-3-while-keeping-rhythm-timing-of-the-chords/23919/12) Currently importing a MIDI file into Scaler 3 treats it as a detection source, whereby detected chords appear on the main track, and detected scales are listed. The result is the same whether it is a single or multitrack MIDI file. As you mention, detection is being greatly expanded upon in a coming update. ---

Thanks @Tristan. My bad. I imaggined that the bass line and the melody line must be represented as different lines in the piano roll, so cannot be displayed separately. Yes, but their scale is the same 🤦‍♂️
