# Delay between hitting key and chord playing

**System:**  
Windows 11  
Ableton Live 12.4.6 (Happening in previous versions)  
Scaler 3.3.2 (Was not happening in 3.2)  
Intel 11900F  
RTX 3090  
16GB of RAM

The Issue:

When pressing notes on my MIDI keyboard, OR when pressing notes on the ‘scale’ area, there is a relatively large delay between telling the VST to play a chord, and the VST playing a chord - This behaviour does NOT happen when the “Main Track” area plays

I have tried this with internal instruments, VST’s running within Scaler, and just purely ‘no instrument’ and the behaviour stays

Hi @dizzidiz welcome to the Scaler Music forum. The delay you’re describing is often the result of Play Quantize being enabled. Can you please check the Playback tab in Scaler’s settings and make sure Play Quantize is set to off?
