Hi, I’m using Scaler 3 with the Reaper DAW. I’ve got a project that uses 6/8 time, and I’m using a very simple 2 chord progression in Scaler 3. However, even after adjusting the Scaler settings to either 3 beat measures or 6 beat measures, Scaler does not play along correctly using DAW sync, and the issue seems related to the timeline current time cursor line. Strangely, the fill animation on the chords themselves displays the correct timing, however that is not what Scale is using to determine what the current time is and when to play the chords in the progression. Thanks!
After some further testing, I was able to get Scaler 3 to play a bit nicer in 6/8 time, as long as I had set 6/8 as my DAW time signature before I opened Scaler. Furthermore, the chords would “play” correctly as long as I chose a different articulation than the default performance. However, the line cursor tracking the current time was still off, no matter what I did. Scaler does not like to update a chord progression to a different time signature once the progression has been built and played in the Arrangement view.
I’m having the same issue. It just won’t work in 6/8 in standalone or daw plugin with sync (GarageBand).
It doesn’t play all the chords and the play head moves across at a different rate than the clips are being triggered.
Also, when changing time signatures, the chords don’t change with it on the main track arrange page. Very frustrating as my song is 6/8 and it’s unusable.
Welcome to the forum @Ben888 You will see this is in the known issues and fixed for 3.1 due soon:
Thanks for the quick reply Davide.
Just to mention, it’s not just 6/8, it also doesn’t seem to sync in 12/8. The only signatures that work correctly for me are 4/4 and 3/4. The same happens in standalone as well as DAW sync. On on MacOS if that’s helpful.
Hopefully all fixed in the upcoming update.
Yep on it @Ben888 Stay tuned will all be nice in 3.1. Update is due May 14th.
The track position cursor on the arrangement page does not match up with where the instrument is playing. The progress bar on the chord group seems fine.
The notes being played do not match the notes on the midi preview. Sometimes the notes play, sometimes not. Happens with the main track. When adding a motion, it will also do odd things such as one time, the main track was looped on 8 measures. The motion was trying to loop 24 measures. Additionally, the loop will reset at odd times. I think that the second motion was reaching the end of it’s seemingly arbitrary loop.
If a new motion is added, it makes the problems worse.
Seems that it happens when there are 8 beats to a measure. I tried it with 6/8 and 9/8.
Happens with standalone and as midi effect in Logic.
